The head coach of the Belgian national team, Roberto Martinez, announced his resignation after being stuck in the World Cup group:
“This was my last match as a coach of the national team. Now I am more emotional than ever. I can’t continue working like this. I have already said goodbye to the players and staff. No matter what happened, I was going to go anyway. Even if we became world champions, I would still leave the post. I made this decision before the start of the tournament,” said Martinez.
Roberto Martinez was appointed as the head coach of the Belgian national team in 2016. Under the leadership of the Spanish specialist, the “Red Devils” took third place at the 2018 World Championship.
Today, in the third round of the World Cup group stage, Belgium drew 0:0 with Croatia and got stuck in the group.
